Put your best foot forward.
Let's talk about the most subjective part of any online presence, the web site itself! Assuming that all your other components (hosting, domain, etc...) are in line, your web site should accurately represent your business and what you're about in look, feel, media, and function. Once your marketing has the target interested, and your domain and hosting make it easy for you to tell them something, your web site needs to speak clearly and deliver the message which will in turn motivate the target to make a purchase, or sign-up for a newsletter, or grab a phone to give you a call! Great design and a correctly funneling layout will give you the chance to make a difference and get your goals accomplished. Drop us a line, let us help you realize your goals.
A site is only as good as the stuff it's made of.
We want to help you understand what actually goes into the creation of a web presence. There are a couple universal things that make them tick. Every site from "dansfishing.com" to "microsoft.com" need the same basic components to function. It helps to have an understanding of the components that go in to making a site so that we can establish a conversational framework. With the infinite combinations that make up the web today, we simplify the process and head you down the road for you. Our solutions are always standards compliant and forward thinking, so you can rest assured that these components will keep you ready for the next turn:
- ₪ Domain name: The first thing that every web site needs. Domain names can be hard to acquire but they are the single most important part of a site.
- ₪ Hosting service: The second most important part of the web site equation. There are several factors that go into it, but the goal here is to be able to serve your site up to absolutely anyone that requests it. The ability of the hosting provider to do this is what makes them valuable.
- ₪ Web site: This is the actual information and layout of your site, coded in either HTML or a application that compiles up HTML.
- ₪ Email accounts: While this service is provided by many companies for free, it always looks more professional to have at least one email account that comes from your official domain.
- ₪ Databases: While not needed in all cases, this piece of technology can make a site exponentially more flexible and powerful.
- ₪ SSL: To ensure that any part of a site, including any customer or administration login interfaces, are really completely secure, a Secure Socket Layer Certificate is required. This is only a concern in certain circumstances.
- ₪ SEO: Search Engine Optimization, marketing your site naturally takes a fair amount of time and a ton of effort, but is by far the most cost effective tool to reach your intended audience. Make no mistake, marketing is required for any site.
- ₪ PPC: Pay-Per-Click, is a method by which you can buy the eyes of potential customers or users, again another marketing technique that can be quite effective if used properly.
Special considerations for e-commerce.
If we're talking about e-commerce there are an additional four components that are needed to create an effective presence. How ever there are significant changes going on in this area, especially with the revisions put forth by the credit card companies, don't worry though, we are here to walk you through that too, drop us a line!:
- ₪ Shopping cart: A web application that manages all inventory and selling duties for a web site. Many options are available, all with strengths and weaknesses, we can help you narrow.
- ₪ Payment gateway: The very secure entity that hold credit card data and communicates with a merchant processor to authorize internet and swiped transactions.
- ₪ Merchant Account: Issued by a merchant transaction processor to temporarily hold funds that have been processed until they are deposited into a business bank account where they can be used by the merchant. The company issuing the merchant account is responsible for communicating with the international banking network to actually process any transactions between merchants and customers.
- ₪ Monitoring: Any time security is needed, whether it be a page of information or the personal information of all your customers, monitoring is needed. All the security measures in the world won't save you against a really determined criminal, however being constantly vigilant can head them off at the pass.
